Betreuer
Erich Gamma, Kai-Uwe Maetzel, Martin Aeschlimann, André Weinand, Daniel Megert und andere, Eclipse Committer des IBM OTI Lab in Zürich
Einleitung
The Plugin Clinic will include short topical presentations throughout the two days, but the main focus is on giving you, the eclipse plug-in developers the opportunity to code together, networking with members of the community and the eclipse committers.
Programm
You'll need to bring your plug-ins, plug-in ideas, proposals, problems, solutions and your laptop and we'll provide the environment for high bandwidth interaction. Participation will be limited so that we can work in an environment of 'structured chaos' - we'll get together as a group for Q&As, checkpoints and 'just-in-time' topical presentations. Your Plugin Clinic coaches will include committers from the Zurich team, including Erich Gamma, Kai-Uwe Maetzel, Martin Aeschlimann and Dirk Baeumer. But primarily you'll be your own coach with lots of resources over the two days!

Friday
09:00 Open
09:30 - 10:30 Structured Q & A
The Structured Q&A is like most other Q&A's except
that we try to collect as many questions as
possible beforehand to get a good idea of what
the important themes are for you. We'll have Q&A
cards available throughout the day - so don't forget
to jot down your ideas!
13:30 - 14:00 Eclipse - Open Source Develepment
From update sites to newsgroups and mailing lists,
the eclipse development process is sometimes
different than other SW projects. We'll
demonstrate the key elements of how to get around
in the eclipse project.
16:00 - 17:00 Checkpoint & wrap up
17:00 Close
Adressaten/Voraussetzungen
You need to bring your laptop ready to connect to the network, and preferably with Eclipse installed. We'll provide RJ45 connections and a CVS server which we'll store for the next Camp Eclipse. We will have an Internet connection throughout the event. We also plan to provide a wireless LAN so if you have a WLAN card, please bring it along.
For beginner to intermediate plug-in developers, we recommend that you attend the Extending Eclipse half day tutorial presented by Kai-Uwe Maetzel as part of the Workshop Tage. Kai will present the full plug-in development cycle by way of an example plug-in, from an overview of the plug-in architecture, to adding extension points for other plug-ins, and publishing the plug-in on an update site. Participation will also be limited here, but you will be invited to the Plug-in Clinic that follows.
Previous campers have told us that they recommend taking a look at the draft of Erich Gamma and Kent Beck's book before the camp. Its not mandatory, but if you'd like to take a look, here is the link (you'll need to register for yahoo groups to access the files).
For a quick overview of writing your first plug-in, please look at the JavaSpektrum article, written by members of the Zurich team.
The offical CampEclipse language is english. All presentations are held in english.
